Dallas and Birthday

We went to Dallas a couple of weekends ago for a few reasons. We stopped in College Station for N to see a cranio-sacral therapist. It was interesting and she thinks she can help fix the autistic behaviors and seizures by working to release the membranes in his brain that are tight and reshaping his head. We are very hopeful that this will work!

Then we went to Dallas where we were able to see several of our wonderful friends from College Station who had come up for the BYU/TCU game. We met at the Rae's house before the game and had a great time visiting and catching up. We miss them!We have 11 kids between us. It was a full house!
Me, my sister and Ken went to the BYU game, K stayed home with the kids.
We got caught up in the "Fredette frenzy" with all the other fans!
After the game, we were able to go to dinner with my cousin Todd and his wife Monica who are from Colorado but came to Dallas for a conference and the game. We hadn't seen them in years and we had a great time visiting. It's always nice to see family and we were glad we could spend some time together.

We also took N to see Dr. Ardis, the natural healer. He says he is doing well and we were able to decrease some of his supplements that he is taking. We continue to pray that all these things we are doing for N will help him stay healthy and reach his potential.

N turned 3!!! He graduated from ECI, here he is with one of his favorite ECI therapists, Miss Rachel.
His birthday was a big day because he started school. He is enrolled in the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD). The school district personalized a program just for N and he is the only disabled child in the class which means he gets one on one attention from his teachers. We were very happy about this, can't really ask for anything better than one on one. When I dropped him off they brought this little wheelchair out to take him into school. It was much harder for me to drop him off than it was for him, he was just fine. Here he is with the PPCD teachers.
Little C was happy to have Mama all to herself after dropping N off.
After school we went to Big C's art show at his preschoolthen started the birthday festivities at Chuck E. Cheese's. N actually liked it this time, we've been to places like this before where he's freaked out because of the noise and flashing lights but it was good this time. He liked the merry-go-round
and the horse ride
and the simulated roller coaster with his brother.
Little C had a great time, too. We've been working hard to try to get N to do anything with food. Our therapists tell us the first step is to have him touch and play with food. He's pretty opposed to this because he has some texture issues but on his birthday, he fed his Daddy
and played with his cake
and even sucked on his finger with some frosting on it.
He is really into balls right now so I made him a ball cake to help him want to touch the food. Apparently it worked
Balloons are always a big hit with NWe ended the day by opening gifts

and playing a little with his siblings.
We are so glad N is with us in our family. He has made incredible progress in the last year, as slow as it may be, and we look forward to more small victories and adventures that may come our way in the next year of his life.

Nikolas looks great! I can't believe he is in preschool. I think that's way cool that he has one on one time with his teachers.
